Group music CLASSES

At Momentum Music & Dance Academy, "group" music lessons have been added to the schedule this year.

Current Schedule & Prices 

Toddler Tunes

(Ages 18 mo. to 3 years)
Every child’s development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Toddlers and grown ups share in a music-making exploration of rhythms, rhymes, songs, movement and games. Props and instruments are used to enhance this joyful first music experience.

 

Joy Of Music

(Age 3-4 years)
Joy of Music is a class designed for young pre-school age children to experience the freedom of expressing themselves creativity through music and song. Instructors encourage listening skills, rhythm awareness and music readiness. Instruments and props are used to enhance explorations.

 

Rhythm & Rhyme

(Age 4-5 years)
Rhythm & Rhyme is a fun and engaging music readiness class for young children with emphasis on rhythm, percussion and creative musical activities. Students enjoy singing, listening, interacting, chanting and exploring musical concepts with instruments and visual guides.

 

Notable Beginnings

(Grades K and 1st)
Notable Beginnings builds off of the skills taught in the pre-school music program. This class offers a more focused exploration of basic music theory with an emphasis on ear training, solfege singing¹ , pitch and rhythm awareness, giving each child a strong readiness for musical involvement.

 

Harmony Way

(Grades 2nd – 4th )
Harmony Way is designed for students seeking a greater knowledge and understanding of music theory. A variety of tonalities, meters, and musical styles are emphasized, along with solfege singing¹ and continued use of rhythm and percussion instruments. This is a great supplemental class for elementary band and choral students.

 

Group Guitar

(Age 6 and up)
Students learn basic guitar playing skills, such as how to hold a guitar and pick, the names of parts of the guitar, scales, chords, strumming patterns, finger picking and more. Emphasis is placed on proper technique, with realistic goals, in a fun and encouraging environment. Students gain self confidence and more as they learn to play songs in a group setting. Intermediate level classes are available upon instructor recommendation. Class sizes are limited to 6 students per class.

¹ Solfege Singing: In music, it is a pedagogical technique for the teaching of sight-singing in which each note of the score is sung to a special syllable, called a "solfege syllable". The seven syllables normally used for this practice in English-speaking countries are: Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, and Ti.
